Pull The Other One Josh
So Josh Beckett understands why he was booed by Red Sox Nation. In his own words he “pitched like shit”. It’s good to know he gets it, but what’s he going to do about it?
How about work harder? How about put in some hard work on your off day?
Nope. Not Josh. Despite rumours that he may have some back pain, our hero decided to play golf on his day off.
I spend my off days the way I want to spend them,” he said. “My off day is my off day. We get 18 off days a year. I think we deserve a little bit of time to ourselves.
18 days off a year? Pull the other one Josh!
Assuming you don’t make the post-season (and right now that looks a safe bet) you have a 6 month season – not “a year”. You get 18 off days in a season. That’s an average of 3 per month. And while I’m no expert, I guess you didn’t include the All-Star break in your “18 a year” statement?
Just like your multi-million dollar contract, time off is earned through hard work and results.
You work hard, you get to play hard. It’s that simple.

MLB.TV Finally Do The Right Thing
MLB finally did the right thing today and released it’s Xbox360 app to International customers. OK, it’s 6 weeks later than originally promised but, when so many customers were beginning to doubt it would ever see the light of day, MLB have surprised us.
It’s tempting to play the blame game for the delay (I still think Microsoft were the innocent party) but it really seems pointless now. Let’s just be grateful for what we have and enjoy it while it lasts.
Thank you MLB (and Microsoft) for finally making this happen.
Now… which button do I press for a Red Sox win?

Just What The Doctor Ordered
Rookie Will Middlebrooks has lit the touch paper under the Red Sox. Youk will be back before too long but in the meantime we have a few veteran bats that could learn a thing or two from this young man.
Will has 3 homer’s in the last two games (including his first Major League granny) and is clearly staking a claim to a starting spot in the foreseeable future.
Just what the doctor ordered for an ailing Boston team.

MLB.TV Still Selling International Subscribers Short
MLB are still proclaiming the addition of MLB.TV Premium on Microsoft’s Xbox 360.
They say:
With MLB.TV on Xbox 360, subscribers can enjoy a dynamic live viewing experience for every out-of-market regular-season game. Among the features available at launch include:
Live games, recaps and archived games: Watch every live regular-season out-of-market game, or catch it later from the game archives, which will include 2011 games as well as those from this season. Short-form game recaps, a complete review of the game in less than five minutes, also are available to all Xbox LIVE Gold Members, as well as a free Game of the Day.
My Teams: Designate favorite teams and put them front and center, making the live games, archives and recaps for selected favorite teams appear front and center for immediate access.
Every game in HD: MLB.TV streams every game in HD, and most games give every fan the option of the home or away feed.
Mini Guide: The Mini Guide gives fans a quick preview of all of the day’s games right at the bottom of the screen, and makes it easier than ever to switch between games.
Split Screen: Allows fans to watch two games at once. Watch live games on both screens or a live game on one while you catch up with a game recap or archived game on the other. Both screens can be controlled independently, pausing and rewinding each separately.
Gesture Control and Voice Control with Kinect for Xbox 360: Focus on the action instead of looking for the remote. Navigate through the Content Guide, skip to the next inning, or play, pause and rewind a play … all with the wave of a hand or the sound of a voice with Kinect.
They go on to say the app is now available to “the massive Xbox 360 audience”.
Listen MLB, there are “subscribers” outside of North America you know? You are selling MLB subscriptions to people all over the world and yet you only make this available to subscribers in North America: the USA, Canada and Mexico to be precise.
Your international subscribers are paying good money – the same amount of money as your North American subscribers – for your product and are getting half a service in return.
Come on MLB – give us the Xbox360 app and right this wrong!

At Last, A Sweep!
The Red Sox beat the Twins yesterday to clinch their first sweep of the season.
Still propping up the division, 3.5 games back, we have to hold on to the fact that it’s still early days and, even if the playoffs are a distant dream right now, Boston could see out September with two teams below them.
That would be something.

Good luck guys!

MLB Shun International Fans
I know, I know… I’ve not been here for a while. I’ve been busy during Spring Training so far. I spent some time in Berlin catching up on how the city has changed over the 33 years since I was last there, and I’ve been getting to know my new motorcycle while the weather has been unusually warm for March in the UK.
So what can be important enough to wrench me away from the Honda and bring me back to the keyboard? MLB.tv, that’s what.
I’ve been looking forward to the 2012 season. I’ve particularly looking forward to watching the Red Sox in comfort, on the big TV screen (instead of the iPad) via the MLB.tv app on the Xbox 360.
I’ve been an MLB.tv premium subscriber for a few years now but, before Spring Training began, MLB snared a few unsuspecting mugs by advertising an Xbox app as being a part of the premium package. The app would be available to anyone with an Xbox Live Gold subscription in several countries including (but not limited to) the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Netherlands, Italy, India, and Australia. The complete list was much longer.
I have a huge Samsung Smart TV which is loaded with apps in its own right but it doesn’t have MLB.tv (unless you live in North America of course) so this promised Xbox app sounded great.
A couple of days ago I received an email from MLB telling me the app was now available in the Xbox app marketplace. I fired up the console, logged in and found it… missing. The MLB.tv is not available outside of the USA, Canada and Mexico. What?
It now seems like MLB and Microsoft are playing the blame game. MLB say the availability of apps is down to MS, while MS are saying the app is ready for release as soon as MLB want it released – it’s their call.
So what is really happening MLB? Why did you announce this app as coming to the Xbox internationally, then hold it back from international release? Will you be releasing it internationally? Will international subscribers get a discount on their MLB account due to getting a reduced service (compared to North American subscribers)?
I hate to admit it but I think I know the answer. Unless you’re a North American subscriber, MLB feel they owe you nothing.
